Ephesians 3:1-9 God’s plan continues
Ephesians 3:1-9 God’s plan continues
Paul states why he is a prisoner and the reason being, it is for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ whom the Lord sent him forth to preach unto the Gentiles. That not just the Jews, but also the Gentiles have now found favor with God, and God’s desire is to inhabit them also by the Holy Spirit. They are now the temple of God along with the Jews who believe.
This is something that had never happened before, but God has now done a new work and has given them access to Himself through the sacrifice of His own son. That Paul has been sent by God to preach to them that now is the time of salvation open to them into God’s kingdom.
Jesus met with Paul face to face on more than one occasion and gave him revelation of His divine purpose for the Gentiles. Ephesians 1:9-11 God will one day gather together all those whose lives are in Christ Jesus, those who have obtained an inheritance through their belief in Christ.
Paul wants them to understand what he himself knows. They need the knowledge Paul possesses, that the mysteries of God will be understood by them for their spiritual growth. It is Christ in you the hope of glory, not anything we can do but what God has already done on our behalf which allows us access to God and entrance into His kingdom.
They are now in a new dispensation of time, they are in the time of the dispensation of the grace of God, and that knowledge came to them through the apostles and also the prophets who prophesied of those things to come to those who believe. All this is brought about by the Spirit of God. They not only have their word, but also the Holy Spirit reveals these things unto them.
This is such a tremendous revelation to them that they are fellow heirs and part of the same body, in which they in times past were excluded from. They now are the children of promise and are partakers of those promises, for they have the earnest of the Holy Spirit. All this is made possible through the gospel of Jesus Christ which they gladly received.
Paul was made a minister of that same gospel, it was a gift given him by God. His heart was changed by the power of God intervening on his behalf. Again the work came from God to make him an instrument of righteousness to carry the word of God to the Gentiles.
Paul thinks himself unworthy to be chosen by God for this great ministry. It is not because he is worthy but because it is God’s will that he do the things God directs him to do. Paul is humbled to be chosen to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ that are extended to him and in turn offered to those who were on the outside, with no hope of salvation.
God wants all men to see what the fullness of the fellowship is for those who are in Christ. The mystery being Christ in you the hope of glory, then we in turn being Christ like together have a brotherhood of love, which binds us together in unity. This mystery which was hid in God is now revealed through the one who created all things, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We are all made to be one with God and one with each other.
