Ephesians 2:20-22 We are Gods building

20 The apostles were men chosen by Jesus, they had a personal relationship with Him and were chosen to be discipled by Him, that they might continue His ministry on the earth. They were like ships without a rudder until the day of Pentecost, where they were filled with the Spirit and able to do the work of the ministry. They fulfilled their calling to preach the gospel and did not love their lives to the death. They were willing to give their lives for the sake of the gospel, just as Jesus had done. The prophets of the old testament were men of God who were chosen by God to be His spokesperson to the people. God revealed His will through the prophets of old. They throughout the ages prophesied of a Messiah who would come to deliver Gods people from sin and redeem them back to Himself. The foundation was built upon the word of God spoken by the prophets of old, and also through the apostles who continued the ministry of Jesus. The cornerstone is Christ in which the whole building is locked together, which solidifies the complete structure. Without Christ there would be no Church and there would be no bride of Christ. There was nothing in the law that could save us from sin, it could only point out our sins and condemn us in them. Jesus set us free from condemnation. We are no longer condemned in our sins, for we have been declared innocent. We just need Jesus, in a personal relationship, we don’t need the rules and regulations found in the law for Jesus has set us free from the curse of the law. Jesus did a perfect work on the cross of Calvary, all we must do is believe and follow Jesus. For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourself: it is the gift of God. To follow the law would be us working in the flesh. Following Jesus by faith is you and I walking in the Spirit.

21 Again God is the master builder here. He knows each of us personally, He places us in the body where we need to be to be used of Him. He gives us the gifts that we need to do the work of ministry. Each of us working together is what makes the body strong, so we must work together with each other to fulfill the work of the ministry. Together we become a holy temple whereby God can have communion with us, and we through His Spirit can minister together and to each other.

22 The church is not about you as an individual, or myself as an individual, it’s about us together working together as one, in unity with a common goal in mind, that God’s will is accomplished in us and together in the church of Jesus Christ. We are all members of His body, and when we as a group assemble together, others will know that God’s presence is with us. God inhabits the praises of His people, that’s why it’s so important that we praise and worship Him when we come together. B. God’s Spirit within us binds us together and bonds us together in love. That’s why we enjoy each others presence, for we all have something in common, we all serve the same Lord and savior who redeemed us all for His own.
